12 free resources to prevent summer slide

Parents are asking us for resources to support their children so the skills they worked so hard on this school year aren't lost over the summer. We recommend the below online resources that are proven and, best of all, free!

  • Zearn Math - A K -5 math program that teaches math as big, connected math ideas. Independent lessons at each grade level.

  • Kahn Academy - Covers math, science, engineering, computing and prep for SAT and ACT college readiness tests.

  • Newsela - A digital resource for current happenings around the world.

  • Math Prodigy - Covers mathematical concepts grades 1 through 8.

  • Learnzillion - Many Cape Cod school districts have purchased licenses to this K-5 math and english language arts program designed for struggling students. Reach out to your child's teacher for log-in access that would incur no cost to you.

  • IXL - Again, many Cape Cod districts have purchased licenses for this program which covers the entire curriculum, grades K-12, including english language arts, math, science and social studies. Parents should also reach out to your child's teacher for access information. Optionally, there is a family plan rate parents may wish to purchase.

In addition, here are some other free online resources you may want to check out:

  • ReadWriteThink - Fun, detailed ideas and activities to engage your child in reading and writing, grades K - 12
