Parents are asking us for resources to support their children so the skills they worked so hard on this school year aren't lost over the summer. We recommend the below online resources that are proven and, best of all, free!
Zearn Math - A K -5 math program that teaches math as big, connected math ideas. Independent lessons at each grade level.
Kahn Academy - Covers math, science, engineering, computing and prep for SAT and ACT college readiness tests.
Newsela - A digital resource for current happenings around the world.
Math Prodigy - Covers mathematical concepts grades 1 through 8.
Learnzillion - Many Cape Cod school districts have purchased licenses to this K-5 math and english language arts program designed for struggling students. Reach out to your child's teacher for log-in access that would incur no cost to you.
IXL - Again, many Cape Cod districts have purchased licenses for this program which covers the entire curriculum, grades K-12, including english language arts, math, science and social studies. Parents should also reach out to your child's teacher for access information. Optionally, there is a family plan rate parents may wish to purchase.
In addition, here are some other free online resources you may want to check out:
Of course, the most important activity is to encourage your child to read for pleasure. Check out the 2018 summer reading programs being offered this summer at our local Cape Cod libraries.
Take this opportunity to contact us to set your child up for 2018-19. We're happy to review IEPs, progress reports and make recommendations. Send us an email or call us soon--summer is approaching!
